For a recent test shoot I was working on image compositing idea that came from a trip to the Louvre in 1993. The idea was from a painting by Paul Delaroche called “The Young Martyr”.
Using images of the Columbia River Gorge as a background we were able to create a set in the studio in which we could place Kelsey in alignment with the background image to make sure the camera height and angle made sense for the overall image.
The set required a custom built bench for us to prop Kelsey on while allowing her hair and wrap to flow slightly. With the great work of hair and makeup artist Brenna Scarrott and set stylist Kevin Quirke the images of Kelsey came out more than my expectations.
The base photographs were then composited together with the original background photographs to create the final image.
