Polara photographer Michael Shay’s specialty is shooting inanimate food objects, but before his life as a professional food photographer, Michael was a successful fashion photographer for 15 years in San Francisco. Lindsay Huber, daughter of Kasey Huber (Polara’s Client Services Manager), is on her way into breaking into the modeling industry and because all models need a striking comp card, Michael channeled his former fashion photographer spirit and shot Lindsay’s portfolio photos here at the studio and then at a popular on-location site three blocks from the studio which is frequently visited by other photographers and videographers.

Michael says: “Fashion photography is a lot like food photography. You work with a cast to capture that one decisive moment. You fuss too much and the moment is gone.”
