Hi everybody. I haven’t posted in a while but now that our annual party is over (look for a post on it coming up soon)  I’ll have time to do more writing. So about a year ago we needed to find a boxing ring for a photo shoot. We ended up finding one at a place called Straight Blast Gym. It’s a Mixed Martial Arts gym that specializes in Brazilian Jujitsu. I thought it was intriguing and visually interesting so I decided to do a project on it. I’ve been hanging around there for the last few weeks and I wanted to share some of the highlights. Here are a few of my favorites:

This project is not like a normal commercial photography shoot in that I can’t use strobes because of safety concerns. It’s been a really great challenge for me. Amanda and Matt at Straight Blast have been great, and I’ve had pretty much free reign to do whatever I want. I’ll be working on and off as the year goes on and I hope to include some location portraits of their competition team with studio lighting. You can see the rest of the photostream here.
